Happy 1/2 Birthday Baby Joel

Yesterday we celebrated Joel's half birthday! That's right he is already 6 months old! It is incredible to me how quickly the last 6 months have gone by. The day before Joel's birthday I had the opportunity to visit a friend and her new baby in the hospital. I was emotionally unprepared for what holding a newborn baby would do to my heart. She was too sweet and little, I can't even begin to wrap my mind around the fact that Joel used to be that tiny, tinier actually. Now it seems as if he is huge and has already developed so much. We can't wait for them to meet and to grow up together learning about life and serving others with the love of Jesus. We are blessed with an awesome church family!

You may be asking yourself how exactly does one celebrate a 6 month birthday. Well here is a little snapshot of how we celebrated Joel's big day.

We woke up early and began teaching Joel how to be a servant for Jesus, also known as helping out daddy with his work on campus. We spent a few hours cleaning and sprucing up the CSC, enjoyed lunch with some students and worked at Faith Fest talking with incoming freshman about the ministry. We already love making Joel a part of something that means so much to us and we think the students like him being around as well! Most of them anyway.

Joel celebrated his birthday by getting to have 2 servings of his new favorite food - beets mixed with sweet potatoes. He LOVES them! After we just hung out until bedtime. We had a mini photo session, a warm bath and family Bible Study before tucking him in for the night around 8pm. His present to us was waking only once at 4:30am! Thanks little buddy. His gift to himself, learning to suck his toes. He seems to enjoy it a LOT.

Here are some pictures of our month with Joel. Enjoy!

We love hanging out with our neighbors :)
