It is hard to believe that it has been 2 months since we brought Joel home from the hospital. We have all changed so much since that day. Joel has challenged us to grow as a family, and lean on one another when times are rough and celebrate with one another during times of joy. He has taught us the true meaning of love. Our hearts are overflowing.
This morning at the doctors Joel weighed 9lbs 4oz and is still 21 1/2 inches long. He is itty bitty but we love him just the same. It is likely he will always be itty bitty since both Phil and I were also small as children.
He is starting to coo and smile often, especially in the morning and when we go to get him from his afternoon nap. He is a genuinely happy baby and hardly ever cries or fusses. He has started to try and roll over onto his side. He loves his pacifier and suching on any or all of his fingers. He likes to lay on his playmat and talk with his animal friends or star at himself in the mirror, though he doesn't know that its him. He has also started to lift his head and hold it up when sitting up or laying on his tummy. He loves to do "super Joel" with daddy and read stories before bed. He has grown to love his bathtub and getting his diaper changed. Often once his diaper is off he can be found smiling, and kicking his legs like crazy. He also loves to praise God in our morning song time with our "Praise Baby" CD. We are already working on Jesus hands and clapping :) He will be praise team ready soon!
We feel so blessed to have Joel in our lives. We are excited for what the next month brings!
