Our big remodel

Phil and I are falling in love with our first home more and more everyday! We bought this house after looking at 15 homes all in one day. The layout is great. I never thought I would love living in a tri-level. The curb appeal isn't my favorite but hopefully a new roof, painted shudders and a new front door will help that!

You may or may not have heard about our couch drama....We went out looking for a chair for our family room and fell in love with a brown leather sectional instead! We purchased it on a whim. It wasn't what we were looking for but it would fix the problem - not enough seating. They brought it to the house 2 days later and couldn't get it in. I was pretty upset and irritated. Not just about that couch but the fact that we wouldn't be able to ever purchase a sectional!

Phil and I discussed our options. Find another couch or chair that will fit, bring it in through our picture window, widen the doorway, etc. We finally decided to make a half wall in between our kitchen and living room. It was a project that was on the "dream list" of remodel projects but never did I think we would do it soon. I learned that my husband is very motivated when it comes to destruction. That Monday he had the wall taken down! It looks great! Well it will look even better once we put the wood beam up and the shelf. That will have to wait for it to stop snowing! Can't buy wood in the snow!

Here are some pictures of the project:

I am still trying to figure out what to do with the living room. I want to pull the colors from our kitchen in but I don't want it to be too dramatic. We are thinking about painting the red of the cross on one of the walls....the window wall or the piano wall? We are also going to get some green, blue and yellow accents and possibly a new rug. What do you think of the beige couch? Too wide? Too big? We are trying to decide if we should put the green couch in there with a beige cover or the beige couch. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks!

The Final Product: Living Room Wall is gone :)

Our New Couch in the Basement, now to get rid of the AWFUL navy blue blinds :)
