My 1st Official Photoshoot of Joel

My photography friends are going to hate this next paragraph so it is my duty to apologize in advance, sorry friends!

Ever since I bought my first Digital SLR camara, 4 years ago, I have dabbled in photography. The camera settings and the lens make it so easy to take a really nice shot. I ecpecially enjoyed taking pictures of the kids I babysat for. This eventually led to several families asking me to snap a few pictures here and there of their kids. I enjoyed doing it and was fairly good at capturing one or two really great shots.

Fast forward a few years and we have a baby of our own. We decided from the get go that we wanted lots of pictures of Joel but that our budget and schedule didn't allow for professional shots. We chose to pay a professional for Joel's newborn pictures but knew that we wouldn't be able to afford additional sitting fees later on.

Traditionally parents choose to get professional pictures done at 3,6,8 and 12 months. We decided not to do the 3 month pictures and instead waiting until he turned 6 months. We purchased the outfit, brainstormed locations and then one bright and sunny morning I went to work shooting some images of our son.

With a couple of photoshop tutorials under my belt, I edited my favorite shots from the day. Here are Joel's official 6 month pictures. I think they turned out pretty great for a 1st time.

We did learn some things along the way. The first was that it was easier to shoot if Phil was home to help me. The second is that Joel is WAY to easily distracted at this age to shoot outside. I tried for 10 minutes to get a decent picture outside and this was as good as I could get :)

Thanks for looking.
